About

Based in Dunbar, East Lothian, I have been repairing woodwind instruments for over 30 years for both professionals and amateurs.

NAMIR

Having trained at Newark’s School of Clarinet Making and Woodwind Repair,  I continued my training at All Flutes Plus, London, later moving to Topwind as their flute specialist.

Clarinet making was a predominant factor whilst training at Newark and as a keen clarinettist and silversmith, keyword alterations on any woodwind instrument became a much-requested speciality.

I am a member of the National Association of Musical Instrument Repairers.

I  settled in South Wales some 20 years ago to establish myself in some cleaner air and immerse myself in the welsh music scene!

Time was spent as a voluntary repairer in schools in Kenya and Zimbabwe in the 1990s  and I have also been part of various weekend courses and conventions in Britain including “Flutewise”  events as a resident flute specialist.

I also play and teach flute, clarinet, saxophone, and piano at home, Belhaven Hill School, Dunbar and Merlin Academy of Traditional Music, Melrose.

If you have an enquiry for a woodwind repair please the contact me with a brief description.
